It’s that time of year.

Lilydale, NY is the world’s largest center for Spiritualism It is located in southwestern NY State, and is celebrating it’s 135th year. Many visit Lilydale from far and near. Some people come to share in the many events that are offered here. Some attend the various workshops of the season given by experts on a variety of subjects. Some of the workshops given this year pertain to Reiki, Chakras, Mediumship Psychic Development, Spirit Guides, Healing, Orbs,  Animal Totems, and Spirit Photography. There are many more that I did not mention.

  • I love to visit Lilydale and I usually attend at least once a year. It is a wonderful and fulfilling way to spend the day. I plan the outing in accordance with the busy schedules of my sisters, (I have three, two of which live out of town) and/or with my closest friend that lives in NJ and her sister.  We use this time to bond, laugh, eat, walk (a lot) and spend time with Spirit. If you decide to visit Lilydale I have one suggestion: wear comfortable shoes. There is a lot of walking involved and the terrain is quite hilly. Message Service at  Inspiration Stump will be our initial destination which begins at 1pm since I am NOT a morning person. Lillydale, NY is in southwestern New York State so we time the 1 hour trip accordingly. Of course Lillydale Assembly’s schedule starts much earlier than 1pm. Meditation Service in the Healing Temple is at 8:30 am followed by Healing Service at 10:30. There is a Video Presentation in the Library at 11:30 am, which leads us to the Message Service at Inspiration Stump at 1 pm. We try to find a parking spot close to the entrance of Leolyn Woods. Inspiration Stump is located at the end of a short peaceful trail as we walk along whispering, past the pet cemetery. We are all silently wondering who will receive a message from Spirit. In the clearing are rows upon rows of benches surrounded by tall standing trees. As we take a seat we can see “inspiration stump”.  Services have been held here since 1898. Several Mediums gather to take their turn and give messages from Spirit to the audience. We never know if we will receive a message or not. Sometimes Spirit gives messages of advice, sometimes warnings and sometimes the messages that come across are humorous. The Mediums receive messages in different ways and do not always know the meaning of the signs they are getting, they say what is being told to them. One year as we sat listening in awe, the medium asked my sister, “may I come to you?”.  She responded “yes”. There is a better connection between this world and the Spirit World if a vocal response is given. The Medium asked, “why do I see a big doughnut over your head?’. Laughter rang out among the audience as my sister responded, “I work in a bakery”.
  • After the Message Service is over, the people disperse discussing the messages of the day. There are approximately 51 residing Mediums in the small quaint community.  The streets are lined with cottages surrounded by gorgeous plants. trees, and blooming flowers of many varieties.
  • Everywhere you look, you can spot an angel. Angels in the gardens, angels on the porches, Angel flags and statues. We walk along the narrow roads passing one cottage after another. Most cottages have porches or small waiting areas set up with chairs, brochures and a pen and schedule. Some have banners or signs that state “the Medium is in”. Since we have been to Lilydale in the past, we know the deal. It is wise to make an appointment ahead of time. If you have a favorite Medium, then you can call prior to your visit, if not, then simply make the appointment before the Message Service at Inspiration Stump. At the peak of the season in the summer months, there are may visitors. At 2 pm the Message Service is over. The crowd exits the Leolyn Woods at the same time on the top of the hill on East St. Most people are wanting a private reading. As we walk taking in the view of these individually landscaped and decorated cottages, we notice the houses that have an inviting sign, “the Medium is in”.  On the porch is the schedule broken down by day and then hour/half hour. If the time you want is available, then you write your name on the sign in sheet. You MUST wait on the porch if the time is close, or make sure you are back for the time you picked. Many people want readings and the sign in sheet gets filled up quickly. Your slot may be taken if you are unavailable.
  • My sisters have their appointments and so do I. We may have time to go to the Assembly Hall first. There is usually a Guest Speaker or Clairvoyant in the Auditorium at 2:30 pm, We go off on our separate ways knowing our meetup spot,The Sun Flower Cafeteria. I am told by my little sister that I need to be far away from where her reading is being held. She tells me that the Medium picks up my energy if I am near and not hers. So she says. One by one, we show up, excited to hear the messages we each received. We discuss our readings, what was told, which deceased loved one appeared,we laugh and cry at the messages as we eat our lunch.
  • 4 pm Message Service at Forest Temple
  • 5:30 pm Message Service at Inspiration Stump
  • 7-8 pm Healing Service in the Healing Temple
  • After a long day we walk back to the car and prepare for our ride home sharing the events of the day with each other.

Smudging

A good read concerning feathers

A good read concerning feathers

Do you hear sounds in your home that you can not identify? Footsteps when no- one is home except you? Things that go bump in the night? Is there another presence there? Is it the paranormal? Are there more that one? Are they friendly? Malicious? Do you hear doors slam? Unexplained happenings.

Spirits sometime attach themselves to places and things that they had a connection to on the earthly plane. Maybe they were happy living in one place or another and they don’t want to leave. Maybe they met an untimely or horrific death and are stuck somewhere. Sometimes Spirit doesn’t know that they are dead.

Smudging is “tool” used by psychics, mediums, shamans, or just plain people which I will refer to as the cleanser . It entails using a smudging feather and usually a “shell” containing sage grass. The cleanser may use words of prayer to help remove the Spirit. The sage grass is burned in the shell creating sacred smoke. The smudging feather is used to distribute the smoke throughout the room. The ceremony starts at the upper most part of the house and continues through each adjourning room. The sacred smoke should be distributed and sent from solid walls toward the windows and doorways. The cleanser passes through each room down to the lower floor/floors doing the same. Eventually the cleanser reaches the main entry to the building which is being cleansed of unwanted Spirit.

I had moved into my country home over 18yrs ago.I had a longtime friend from the Seneca Nation. I walked with her throughout my 1840c farm house. We sent the sacred smoke into the air of each room slowly walking and blessing each and every room. I feel happy and safe in my home.

I have since studied this subject thoroughly. I have made several smudging feathers that I sell. I use wild turkey feathers which I found in the fields on my property (no animals were killed or hurt  by me). I had these feathers blessed in a prayer circle.

Do YOU Believe???

? SKEPTIC ?

I’ve heard people say “in a past life I must have been a….”  OR   “in my next life I’m coming back as…”  OR  “it must have been a ghost”

When a loved one dies they say: he/she passed on, he/she is in a better place, he/she crossed over, he/she feels no pain now!!

How many of us think before we speak?                                          Do we really believe the words coming out of our mouths?   Are “we” just blurting out phrases that we’ve used for many years?

In the Catholic faith we bless ourselves as we recite the words “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, Amen. It has since been changed to Holy Spirit from the time I was in my younger body. “OMG”. I think almost everyone has said that. Do you believe? Do we leave our shell/body behind when we die, cross over, pass on?  Pass on to where? The other side. Yes many have said that term, “the other side”. Take a moment and digest that.

My mother would comment “someone is either coming or going”. As a Catholic it is the belief that from dust we came and to dust we will return! Was she referring just to our physical body? Did she believe in the After Life? There’s another term…..After Life. Does it mean after this life?

They say these things but don’t believe.

I BELIEVE!
